As a geographically dispersed group, MariLUG does some of our best work in our local communities where a handful of members at a time will gather to put on an event that touches the hearts and imaginations of the people around us.
Some of these events are the work of a few. Others involve a large number of builders coming together in one area to make a big impression – supporting local members and taking their display to the next level!
This display featured two city & train layouts plus a fun space-themed table, open for all at no charge in the public library in beautiful downtown Fredericton.
This edition of our Annapolis Valley event featured a display of our mosaic from Bricks by the Sea, a smorgasbord of 'moptoptrev' originals, MOCs based on local buildings, Sam's planes, Trevor's planes, a collection of interesting retail sets – and even a door prize!
This two-month installation at the Mic Mac Mall featured the work of many MariLUG members. Before packing up, we finished the show with a 'meet the builders' session where we sat down to talk with visitors about our hobby and answer all their burning questions.
Frostival is Fredericton's annual celebration of all things winter... so we winterized a section of the train layout.
Meanwhile, a summery rendition of Pollocksland reminded those with less love for the snow that beach season is coming... eventually.
Another great day of display and play! This laid-back event had a few MOCs, a few sets, and a blast from the past in the form of an iconic Space monorail, straight from the archives.
With spring on its way and people turning up at the mall to start their seasonal shopping, it was no time for an empty storefront to stay empty.
MariLUG to the rescue!
We filled the windows with a variety of builds fit to delight the whole family.
In January, we braved the cold weather for another Annapolis Valley building event.
This family-friendly gathering encouraged everyone in and around Wolfville to turn out and express their creativity through the venerable LEGO® brick.
Our first year at Fredericton Frostival! We brought a town & train display to a room in the Beaverbrook Art Gallery – a venue where, in our eyes, it was very much at home!
At most events, visitors get to see LEGO®. At some, they even get to touch!
But this one was the whole package. With cute small-scale builds, we were able to provide a building experience that everyone was able to assemble quickly – and then they got to take the fun home for future creativity.
Description of the event goes here. Choose up to 20 of the best photos for the carousel.
On a sunny summer weekend, MariLUG descended on the Shearwater Aviation Museum and filled the front hall with trains and fun!
The ever-reliable Pollocksland was present, as was a large collaborative layout assembled from the builds of multiple MariLUG town & train enthusiasts.
At our inaugural Annapolis Valley event, we were joined by special guests from Acadia Robotics who gave demonstrations of LEGO® robotics, much to the crowd's delight!
There were, of course, lots of MariLUG builds on display as well, and plenty of building enjoyment to be had by all.
We Maritimers are surrounded by the sea. It shapes many aspects of our lives – including our LEGO® builds!
For this event, kids and kids at heart were invited to build and share creations that embodied their connections to our famous shores.
We really hit the streets for this event!
Special MariLUG member creations were scattered throughout downtown Halifax, hidden on the shelves of our favourite stores and businesses.
Then we issued the challenge to Haligonians – how many can you find?
Shawn had a problem: he had a big box full of dark azure 2x4 bricks and no idea what to build with them.
And then Digby Scallop Days rolled around.
It's an annual festival to celebrate the delectable seafood that makes Digby famous around the world – and, for 2022, to build the world's largest brick-built scallop shell.
MariLUG was privileged to provide support to the annual York Sunbury Search and Rescue breakfast fundraiser. This event helped York Sunbury Search and Rescue raise important funds to further their important mission in saving lives. Building on the theme of the breakfast, MariLUG brought a search-and-rescue themed Lego display complete with storyline. Can you help the team locate our lost adventurer?
